Global TeleMatik targets usage-based,
tolling and road pricing applications.
Using sophisticated algorithms,
geographic zones can be defined
based on routing, checkpoints,
timing or other pre-defined
parameters. Once the vehicle
enters these geographic zones
or passes a checkpoint, an event
is triggered and registered
in a Telematic Data Packet.
This is then communicated in
real-time or batched mode
to a data centre. This service
can bring many benefits to the
user such as accurately calculating
the costs associated with road
tolls or negating the need for
the driver to physically stop
and go and pay daily charges
as it can be done remotely in
one overall transaction. London
congestion zoning is an example
of a Global TeleMatik application.
Regional Network Control Centres
provide reliable support. These
specialist service centres coordinate
with the Global Network Control
Centre to supervise and monitor
the entire Thales Telematics¹
network. They also implement
standard tools and procedures
to ensure a seamless worldwide
service. The Global Back-Office
Centre provides support for
the customer service functions
and proactively monitors the
system for fault detection and
reporting problems.
This solution comprises the
following:
- Hardware - in-vehicle communications
and positioning units (Telematics
Control Units or TCU)
- Communications Hub
- Software - fleet management
system or Thalestrak.com
- Response Centre Services
- Airtime
- Installation and support
All these are backed by Thales
and as such provide a unique,
high technology solution.
